Two Post-doctoral Positions

The Liu’s System Microbiology Lab at the Shenzhen University, China, is looking for two post-docs to

  • distill valuable insights from microbiome data (e.g., metagenomics and metatranscriptomics) by data-driven approaches e.g., building metabolic models and predictive models, to mine the microbial dark matters.
  • design synthetic microbiome (e.g., for carbon sequestration and pollutant degradation in mangrove sediments) through pair-wise interactions among microorganisms to augment our understanding of the function of the subsets of the microbiome.

Our lab is in collaboration with Prof. Meng Li’s lab, and co-located in the Archaeal Biology Center at Shenzhen University. We have sequenced metagenomics and metatranscriptomics data from various sources. Therefore, the postdoc fellowship is for applicants who have done a Ph.D in microbiology, molecular biology, ecology, bioinformatics or other related ones. Experiences in metagenomics data analysis and Python/R/Perl programming (for dry-lab postdoc) or wet-lab experiments about microbial cell physiology, cell isolation/enrichment/sorting etc. will be advantageous.

Application

Motivated applicants should submit

  • a one-page letter that summarizes interests and relevant experiences
  • CV
  • copies of PhD and other relevant diploma transcripts
  • contact information of two references

Applications are welcome until the positions is filled.
